There's a certain charm to the limited color palettes and blocky graphics of older systems. Was it the constraints that bred creativity, or is it purely nostalgia goggles?
Consider the limitations:
- Fixed character sets
- Low resolution
- Strict memory limits
Yet, so much was achieved. The demoscene, early game developers, and even simple BBS interfaces had a unique visual identity. This site attempts to pay homage to that, albeit with the conveniences of modern web technology running underneath.
The goal is not a perfect emulation, but an evocation of that feeling – the glow of a CRT, the hum of a floppy drive, the stark contrast of phosphor on glass.
